The Career Intern Program: Final Report. Volume II. Technical Appendices. NIE Papers in Education and Work: Number Seven.
Gibboney (Richard A.) Associates, Inc., Kensington, MD.
This volume is the technical appendixes to the evaluation study (ED 142 795) of the Career Intern Program (CIP), a program effort to help urban youth get a basic education and further training or a paying job. These appendixes include descriptions of the evaluation design, study sample, statistical treatment of the data, and measures used, including commercially available standardized tests and instruments developed by the authors for the study; thirty tables showing raw scores and frequency distributions on pre- and posttests (academic achievement personal-social growth, and Super Career Development Inventory) for both experimental and control groups; fifteen tables showing analysis of covariance results; and some methodological notes on measures, including preconditions for change and biases. Attached to this volume are some of the standardized tests used, four instruments developed by the authors for data collection (CIP Intern Interview, CIP Parent Interview, CIP Graduate Intern Questionnaire, and Employer Questionnaire: Graduate Intern Follow-up), field guides for interviews conducted during the study, and a report comparing the cost of CIP to the costs of a high school program in Philadelphia.
