Based upon evaluations of 50 agencies as part of the Programmatic Research Project on the Rehabilitation of Homebound Persons, the booklet offers information for successfully administering homebound rehabilitation programs for handicapped individuals. Characteristics of New York's successful program are pointed out in the first chapter. Subsequent chapters cover the following: the home as a rehabilitation facility, administration of accessibility services, administrative steps to counteract limitations in the home, managing the program's impact on on-going relationships, family interference, the isolation component, dependence reinforcement in the home, the customary function of the home, administrative considerations relating to psychological responses of the professional worker, selecting an administrative route to homebound programing, the financing of homebound rehabilitation programs, and impact on future programing of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
