Adult Education Staff Development: Selected Issues, Alternatives and Implications.
Spear, George E., Ed.
Based on the experience of 10 separate regional projects in the program in adult educator staff development promulgated by the U.S. Office of Education (1972 to 1975), this publication contains a series of position papers, each of which presents an aspect of the 3-year experience. Some chapters are descriptive of a particular emphasis and/or design of an overall staff development effort (e.g., needs assessment, training trainers, and State department inservice education); others deal more directly with essential aspects of adult staff development programing as experienced by one or more regions. The contents are divided into four parts: Part I, Adult Educator Staff Development; Part II, Adult Educator Training; Part III, State Educational Agency Involvement; and Part IV, Systematic Diffusion of Adult Staff Development. An epilogue summarizes the outcomes of the endeavor and speculates on the future of a national system for the development of professional adult education. Three pages of references follow. (BL)
