Need for Continuation of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Report of the Subcommittee on Investigations of the Committee on Armed Services, House of Representatives, with Dissenting Views. Ninety-Fifth Congress, First Session.
Congress of the U.S., Washington, DC. House Committee on Armed Services.
The report of the subcommittee favoring continuation of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences consists of four parts: (1) the history of the university, the reasons for its establishment; (2) the findings and conclusions of the subcommittee on the discontinuation of institutional funds; (3) the subcommittee's recommendations for action by the Secretary of Defense; and (4) a discussion of a number of the issues in the controversy. Among those issues are the special benefits and costs of educating military personnel as physicians, the problems of relying on volunteers to meet the military's medical needs, the problems of an alternative scholarship program, and construction costs. The dissenting view of representative Ronald V. Dellums is included. (MSE)
