The structure of career education included in this curriculum guide for grades 5-8 is intended to provide a comprehensive, sequential, and integrated approach, based on the eight elements of the Comprehensive Career Education Model matrix (CCEM) adopted in Alabama. The eight elements are as follows: Self-awareness, career awareness, economic awareness, educational awareness, decisionmaking, beginning competency, employability skills, and attitudes and appreciations. Sample objectives, learning activities, and resources concerning each element are included for each grade level. Grades 5-8 cover the areas of English, math, science, and social studies; foreign language activities are also included for grade 7. There are 9 activities for grade 5, 8 activities for grade 6, 11 activities for grade 7, and 6 activities for grade 8. (TA)
