Hearings on the Need for Continuation of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences before the Investigations Subcommittee of the Committee on Armed Services, House of Representatives, Ninety-Fifth Congress, First Session.
Congress of the U.S., Washington, DC. House Committee on Armed Services.
Presented is the transcript of the hearings into the Department of Defense's February 1977 decision to terminate the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. It was felt that the physician needs of the military could be more efficiently met by direct recruitment, and that the fiscal year 1978 budget could be reduced by $14 million in doing so. Statements are made by the surgeons general of the armed services, faculty and staff of the university, officials of government agencies, and faculty members of other public and private universities.
