A study was conducted by the Veterans' Administration in June 1976 to determine completion rates for education and training under the Vietnam Era GI Bill for veterans who had terminated training by June 1972. The study was based on responses to a questionnaire sent to a sample of Vietnam era veterans and summarizes their reported completion rates, current employment and earnings, degree or certificate earned, areas of training, and other factors. College and other resident school and on-job trainees had high completion rates but correspondence school trainees much lower ones. About half the discontinuances were due to financial problems together with job interference. Other responses indicated that the majority of the veterans completing training had lower unemployment rates, utilized their training at work, and had higher earnings than those not completing training.
