This book is a guide for teachers of physical education in elementary schools. Contemporary theories and practices of physical education are adapted for elementary school use. Procedures of curriculum design and teaching methods that use contemporary individualized practices are examined and explained within the framework of the needs and abilities of the school child. The book offers guides in the development of curricula, selection of appropriate content activities, and the analysis and correction of skills. Movement experiences are presented in a variety of ways, and ideas are given for evaluation of each individual's progress in acquiring movement skills and knowledge. (JD)
