Experience-Based Career Education. Final Evaluation Report. FY 1975.
Christensen, Paul; And Others
Performance testing of the Far West Laboratory (FWL) Experience-Based Career Education (EBCE) model and accumulation of evaluation information from experience with Far West School (for model implementers) conducted during 1974-75 is discussed in this evaluation report. Three types of information are developed: Evidence related to student accomplishment, analyses of the utility of program elements, and evidence showing the degree of acceptance by certain self-selected school districts. Following the introductory chapter, which gives an overview of the FWL-EBCE model and program, chapter 2 contains a description of the overall evaluation design, including a listing of data collection sources, procedures, and instruments. Chapter 3, Student Population, defines the composition of participating groups, i.e., returning students, entering students, controls, and graduates. Attrition during fall and spring is reported. Chapter 4, Program Use and Effects, contains information on student plans, perceptions and attitudes, differential use of program features, and relations among student characteristics, program features, and program outcomes. Chapter 5, Program Implementability, deals with procedures for assuring adherence to the model, plans for continuation of Far West School in Oakland, California, feasibility of adoption of the FWL-EBCE model in different districts, and factors identified as critical in adopting the model. Chapter 6 is a brief summary of findings contained in the report. (TA)
