The school needs to give attention to the development of feeling. Valuing human beings need to throw aside the shackles that bind many schools to superficial low-level programs. They need to be daring and venturesome, realizing that in the last analysis there is nothing that can destroy a society more rapidly than bored students who are unwilling and unable to live responsible and creative lives. No shifts in curricular emphases, no changes in programs for students are apt to take place on a large scale unless administrators, school boards, communities, and others responsible for students wholeheartedly plan for, endorse, and support such changes. Twelve points that reflect on the nature of humanistic learning and the affective realm are briefly discussed. (Author/IRT)
