This report presents an analysis of data for October 1975 compiled from the Current Population Survey on recent changes in school and college enrollment. Presented in statistical tables are data on the characteristics of students enrolled in nursery schools through college, including data on students' age, race, sex, marital status, living arrangements, and family income levels. The data reveal that enrollment in elementary schools has decreased by 3.5 million between 1970 and 1975. College attendance may also decline by the 1980s when the smaller birth cohorts reach college age. Increases in the enrollment of blacks and women, as well as graduate school enrollments, are indicated in the data. Fewer college students are currently living with primary family units (either spouses or parents). Twenty-five detailed statistical tables display the data on which these conclusions are based.
