The report is an effort to summarize and synthesize the work of six academic medical centers and affiliated health maintenance organizations that participated in the project for the development and implementation of curricula for physician training in HMO's. The selected works of the participating institutions constitute the bulk of the report. They are organized along the focal issues of the project: (1) curriculum development process; (2) curriculum content; (3) instructional methods; (4) program evaluation; and (5) educational costs. The participating institutions are: Georgetown University and the Georgetown University Community Health Plan; University of Rochester and the Genesee Valley Group Health Association; University of Pennsylvania and the Penn Urban Health Maintenance Program; University of Washington and the Group Health Cooperative of Puget Sound; Brown University and the Rhode Island Group Health Association; and Harvard University and the Harvard Community Health Plan.
