Competencies are specified for each of six roles of personnel in reading education: instructing students in developmental reading, including reading in the content fields; instructing students in remedial reading; providing reading consultant service to school personnel; organizing, managing, budgeting, and developing community support for the reading program; assisting college students in improving their reading and study skills; and preparing classroom teachers and reading specialists for reading education.
