Intended for parents and educators, the self-directed study guide provides objectives, resources, and quizzes on the education and creative development of gifted and talented youth. Contained in each of the 19 topic guides are the following components: topic organizer, minimum content objectives, topic rationale, preinstructional self-quiz, bibliography, recommended projects and activities, and a final self-quiz. Presented in Unit I are topic guides on a general introduction, nature and measurement of intelligence, and intellectual development. Unit II provides guides to aspects of gifted and talented education: student characteristics, student problems, student identification, cultural differences, instructional procedures, educational programs, parental roles, and evaluation procedures. Unit III, on creativity, contains guides to the following topics: theories and definitions, identification and measurement, characteristics, social and cultural influences, educational programs, the teacher's role, design of instruction, and educational innovations.
