This directory is to enable users to locate quickly and easily organizations and individuals who control national and regional data on blacks in higher education. The tables of contents list groups alphabetically and by subject. Subject headings include: access, distribution, statistical characteristics, employment, persistence, policy studies, and women. Each entry includes the name of the individual to contact and the most recent telephone number. It also includes a description of the data available from each source. Not included are the cost, if any, for the data, nor any evaluation of the quality of the available data. In addition, the sources are identified as under public or private control in the table of contents. Those seeking broader demographic public data on minorities are referred to the Directory of Data Sources on Racial and Ethnic Minorities, the Department of Labor directory of Federal information sources, on ethnic minorities, compiled by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
