The ALA Yearbook: 1976 Centennial Edition.
Wedgeworth, Robert, Ed.; Dell, Richard, Ed.
The first American Library Association (ALA) yearbook appears in the ALA's centennial year. The yearbook brings together in alphabetical sequence a series of articles on topics of enduring as well as current interest to the library community. Included are also reports of the activities of the ALA units, affiliate organizations, and other library-related organizations. Many articles include illustrations and statistical data. Following the alphabetized articles are biographies, obituaries, and reports from the state associations as well as from Canada and Great Britain. Pertinent information on organizations and associations is supplied, and there is a list of prizes and awards and one of notable books. Three topics are given special treatment--a perspective on ALA at 100, the role of public libraries in independent learning, and the history and future of micrographics. The volume also contains information about the late Allie Beth Martin who was 1975-76 ALA president. (Author/LS)
