The book is a collection of articles encompassing a broad spectrum of views and topics and providing insights into the role of vocational education as it seeks to deal with the problems each individual faces in adjusting to a career-oriented society. The volume is divided into three sections which lead the reader through the entire process of entering vocational education, progressing through its programs, and entering a chosen field of work. Each of the parts carries a continuing emphasis on what vocational education can do for the individual. Among the areas the book explores are: attitudes and reasons concerning an individual's decision to enter vocational programs, methods of instruction that look to means of individualizing curricula, work study programs, and the attitudes and abilities expected of the employee by a prospective employer. In addition to vocational educators, the authors (for whom brief biographies are listed) include psychologists, a homemaker, a graduate student, and a company president. (Author)
