University Administrative Systems. The Oakland University Long-Range Systems Planning Project Report. December, 1975.
Oakland Univ., Rochester, MI.
Completion of a four-month study of Oakland University's administrative systems needs is reported. It is recommended that the university undertake a major developmental effort to design and install new systems, with particular emphasis on payroll/personnel, general accounting, and student records. Following the development of these systems, a new alumni/development records system should be developed and additional work done in the physical plant records area. The university should move forward as soon as possible with the Preliminary System Design phase, and the installation work should begin in late 1976-77. Cost estimates are cited. Joint development efforts with other state colleges and universities should be pursued, both to reduce costs of development and to develop compatible systems for comparative data needs. Upgrading of the university's computing hardware should be considered during the Preliminary System Design phase. Over the next decade, the university could save approximately $3.8 million from development of the new administrative systems. (Author/LBH)
