Regional Cooperative Innovative Efforts for Preschool Multihandicapped Children.
Taylor, Rhea A.; And Others
Discussed in remarks by two special education teachers and two administrators from Kentucky are the development and use of the Lexington Developmental Scale (LDS) with multiply handicapped preschool children. It is explained that the LDS covers five skill areas: gross and fine motor, receptive and expressive language, cognitive, personal-social, and emotional development. The LDS is noted to be available in short form as a screening device and in long form for classroom programing. The use of the LDS in a Head Start program and its adaptation for culturally different children are also considered. (CL)
