Management Improvement Workshop for Administrators of University Affiliated Facilities. Proceedings (New Orleans, Louisiana, November 12-14, 1973).
The University Affiliated Facility (UAF) Programs throughout the United States provide a unique combination of university and community college affiliations for multidiscipline training, multidiscipline services to clients as an adjunct to this training and the conduct of research, all for the benefit of the developmentally disabled client. The workshop had the objective of providing UAF administrators with an opportunity to discuss possible solutions to common management problems and to review new techniques for improved management in UAFs. The use of case problem discussion, panel presentations by administrators, and small group discussions elicited maximum participation and made it possible to accomplish the objective. The proceedings contain the texts of individual presentations specific to UAF administration and related to the following general topics: Health Care Professionals' Expectations of Administrators, Difficult Management Conflicts, Management by Objectives, Use of UAF Data Base Information as a Management Tool, The Future of UAFs as a Unique Health Service versus Training Institution, Utilization of Computer Applications in UAF Management, Difficult Financial Management Problems, and Alternate Financial Management Solutions. Appended are four case studies, a list of suggested UAF administrator roles, workshop program, a list of participants, and workshop evaluation (instrument and data). (Author/MS)
