Descriptive Study of Enrolled Medical Students, 1974-75.
Association of American Medical Colleges, Washington, DC.
This report provides statistical information and commentary about 53,554 medical students who were enrolled in the 114 U.S. medical schools during the school year 1974-75. It is the product of a comprehensive national study that is focused specifically on describing in detail the characteristics of enrolled medical students in all U.S. medical schools during a given academic year. Two approaches for analyzing and presenting the data were employed: (1) by class level, and (2) by control of medical school (i.e., public or private). Tables cover the distribution of medical students by: (1) school, sex, and class level; (2) racial/ethnic self-identity; (3) geographic origin (for foreign medical students); (4) family income; (5) father's occupation in comparison with occupational distribution of employed males 40 years old and over.
