Biological Sciences Curriculum Study Newsletter Number 62, Seventy-Six in '76: The BSCS Collegiate Minicourse Program.
Clark, George M., Ed.
This newsletter presents some insight into the program "Seventy-Six in '76," the Biological Sciences Curriculum Study (BSCS) collegiate minicourse program. This program is one utilizing an audiotutorial, self-paced approach. Information relating to the program's conception, its development, and the product itself is presented. The instructional materials for each of 12 minicourses contain a consumable Study Guide for each student, an Instructor's Manual, an audiotape, and other items (35 mm slides, 8 mm filmloops, special photographs, models, etc.) not readily available through scientific supply houses. Each of these items is described in the article. Names, and other bibliographic data, are provided for those people who served on the staff, the advisory committee, the recommendation panel, and the review panel. A sample study guide is presented. Other items included in the newsletter are a list of BSCS Board of Directors, information indicating that "Research Problems in Biology" is again available in an updated edition by Oxford University Press, and a brief note about the first meeting of the newly constituted BSCS Science for the Handicapped Advisory Committee.
