The Delphic Technique utilizes a survey format with multiple rounds of questionnaires, sequential statistical feedback, and respondent anonymity. The principal objective is to use expert opinion to refine predictions about the occurrence of future events. An open-ended questionnaire was sent to 200 subjects selected from the membership of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology. They were asked to identify the trends in educational media and technology they felt would be significant in the next 25 years. Four rounds of questionnaires were generated and analyzed. From the results it is difficult to derive substantive information concerning the future of educational media and technology. Opinion converged toward the view that hardware trends are more likely to occur, and software trends are more important. The technique and the results obtained had many limitations which were noted.
