A module is presented for delivering basic language skills in Spanish at the secondary level in combination with elements of career education, including career awareness/exploration, self-awareness, decision making, employability skills, and job preparation. The module includes a teacher's guide and five student career units (business and office, communications and media, health and related occupations, hospitality and recreation, and marketing and distribution). The teacher's guide includes the following information: strategies for implementing the student units and incorporating related resources, specific objectives/activities of the student units, and descriptions of contents of each unit. Vocabulary quizzes, texts for listening comprehension tests, career exploration form, and resources are appended. The student units are based on different clusters and consist of two sections: (1) the learning activity package (list of selected occupations, basic vocabulary list, multiple choice basic vocabulary test, skit, supplementary vocabulary, and supplementary activities) written in part in English and Spanish and designed to provide the student with basic skills in the language relative to the occupational unit being studied, and (2) the career research package (information on selected occupations and career exploration form) which provides occupational information and activities to assist the student in exploring a career.
