A Working Woman's Guide to Her Job Rights.
Terlin, Rose
Because of the growing number of women in the work force and the many recent changes in legislation affecting women's rights related to jobs and jobseeking, a need was felt for a publication which presents general information about Federal legislation which affects women when they are seeking a job, while they are on the job, and when they retire. Much of the information in the leaflet is also applicable to other minorities and to workers in general. It presents a brief description of the relevant laws and executive orders in three areas: (1) job seeking as it relates to employment services, apprenticeships, protection against sex and age discrimination; (2) on-the-job provisions relating to pay and promotion opportunities, garnishment, maternity leave, tax deductions for child care and household help, occupational health and safety protection, compensation for injuries, unemployment insurance and unions; and (3) the retirement issues relating to social security benefits and private pension plans. To assist the user in lodging complaints or finding further information, it includes a nine-page list of addresses of national offices of Federal agencies, State offices of the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor, and State labor offices and human rights commissions.
