This report describes the proceedings of the Association for Education in Journalism--Junior College Journalism Association Advertising Workshop, held at Fort Collins, Colorado, with the general objective of organizing an introductory advertising course. The specific objectives of the workshop were to determine the content, textbooks, and types of testing in an introductory advertising course and to organize the course to fit the specific needs of junior colleges, which are increasingly including beginning journalism and advertising courses in their curricula. The contents of the report include the keynote address, a rationale for the introductory advertising course, suggestions for teaching methods, a discussion of the needs of junior college students, guidelines for determining course goals and strategies, and suggestions for evaluating student performance.
