This document is a partial outline of some of the major concepts in the field of language arts and is meant to be used as a frame of reference in formulating performance objectives for language arts instruction in grades seven through twelve. Contents are divided into the following main categories: speaking skills; critical analysis; grammar; fundamentals of writing; basic composition; creative writing; and classification, interpretation, and analysis (the short story, the novel, poetry, drama, and nonfiction).
