This document contains reports and abstracts of research relating to current problems of community college education in Texas. Topics discussed include: methods of encouraging students to accept responsibility for their own learning; individualized instruction and the concept of continuous progress; the effectiveness of three modes of instructor verbal behavior in improving academic achievement; the rationale and methods for implementing affirmative action plans; the various services which should be provided by community college counseling and guidance personnel; factors influencing job satisfaction of community college instructors; the importance of teaching the skills of continuous independent learning and decision-making, and striving to improve student interpersonal relationships and self-understanding; an upcoming project to use Delphi techniques in determining the expectations and aspirations of administrators concerning the characteristics and qualifications of community college teachers; and the current status of developmental programs in Texas community colleges.
