Report for Public Community Colleges, 1973-74.
Florida State Dept. of Education, Tallahassee. Div. of Community Junior Colleges.
This report is intended to provide information with which to answer those questions most frequently asked by members of the legislature, state agencies, external agencies, citizens, administrators, faculty members, and students. The information is presented in two categories: (1) Narrative Description of the history, organization, goals and philosophy of the Florida community college system; and (2) Twenty-three tables of descriptive data on enrollments, personnel, academic programs, and finances. The first category also includes descriptions of the state articulation program and of the responsibilities at the district level for vocational, occupational, and adult education. Since its conception in 1957, the Florida community college master plan has been a national model for long-range planning and for the orderly development of a statewide system of community colleges. It has also received national recognition because of its unusual balance of local control with state coordination and support. In addition to the statistical data, appendices include a glossary of terms, and charts of the community college program structure. This report is compiled from a series of reports submitted to the Division of Community Colleges by the colleges. (Author/DC)
