A Statistical Summary of Selected Characteristics of the Student Population of Southwest Texas Junior College.
Southwest Texas Junior Coll., Uvalde.
This report presents statistical data on students at Southwest Texas Junior College in an attempt to provide insight into the characteristics of the student population. The data is presented in tabular form with no effort to draw conclusions or to suggest possible implications. Fall 1974-75 enrollment figures are broken down by class, full-time or part-time study, sex, on-campus or off-campus, and day or evening attendance. Headcount enrollment from 1946-47 through 1974-75, vocational-technical course enrollment from 1959 to 1974, and evening school enrollment from 1959 to 1974 are presented. Admissions data include method of admission, residence by county, out-of-state students, and high schools attended. The personal characteristics noted for the student populations of 1972, 1973, and 1974 are sex, ethnic group, family income, marital status, age, work situation, scholarship and loan information, veteran enrollment, student vehicle use, and major fields of study. Academic ability test scores on the Nelson-Denny test, ACT composite and individual subject scores, and scholastic rank in high school are given. Appendixes include three followup studies which investigate transfer students, student persistence, and student opinion of the college. (Author/AH)
