Joetta Community Library; A Simulation Exercise in Library Administration.
Brown, Robert E.
Occasional Papers, n118 Feb75
The Joetta Community Library (JCL), a simulation of a public library in a small midwest town, is a practice library for students in a general library administration class at the master's degree level. Students using the JCL simulation assume the position of director, from initial hiring procedure to assumption of the position and involvement in the institution. The students are exposed to a number of the more common manuals, reports, forms, and personnel data found in a public library. They are provided with sufficient information to allow them to analyze and evaluate the library and to make numerous necessary administrative decisions. A variety of case study problems, in-basket items, role playing situations, and budget exercises may be developed for JCL. (Author/LS)
