The Student and the Learning Environment.
Meihofer, Susan S. , Ed.
The selections in this book discuss a wide variety of elements that enhance or inhibit the learning process, from areas of individual physical and mental health to the teaching media available in the classroom. Throughout the book the individual student is viewed in relation to the classroom or sociological group, the teacher, and/or the conditions of the classroom environment. Many of the authors offer the teacher suggestions for altering the classroom environment to improve the possibilities for learning, as well as for understanding the interactions of the student with student and student with group. The articles have been organized around three major themes-The Individual Student; the Classroom Group; and The Learning Environment--in order that their content might be as accessible as possible to educator and general reader alike. Read in any order, however, the individual selections should prove helpful to any teacher who wishes to establish optimum conditions for learning, both in the classroom and in the wider environment of each student.
