Material for teacher-users of a computer-based system of speech training aids for the deaf is offered. Research on the types of deficiencies found in the speech of the deaf is reviewed; a philosophy concerning training which emphasizes the role of diagnosis, is presented; and suggestions are made concerning use of the displays produced by the system to facilitate diagnosis and training.
