An Exploratory Study of the Effects of a College Level Creative Drama Course on Creative Thinking, Risk Taking, and Social Group Acceptance.
Dunn, Margaret Ann Hendren
This study is a defined segment of a long-range investigation into the effects of a creative behavior as it relates to creative drama for college level students. The primary objective was to gain insight into the value of creative drama as a teaching method which might be capable of nurturing creativity. The hypotheses were that a college level course in creative drama would increase creative thinking potential, increase the student's willingness to engage in risks, and have certain effects on group behavior in social situations. Although the hypotheses were not proved, there is considerable subjective and empirical evidence that a creative drama course may be a positive factor in fostering creative thinking skills and that a creative drama course may shed further light on understanding within interpersonal relationships. The data warrant further study and continued experimentation with creative drama on the college level. (Author/RB)
