Management Information Systems for Vocational Education: A National Overview. Technical Report No. 1.
Morgan, Robert L., Ed.; And Others
The document contains 12 papers. Two of the papers present opening and closing remarks to the conference. The other 10 deal with their State's management information system (MIS) in vocational education. The 10 papers are clustered according to whether they are primarily descriptive of student accounting (four papers), manpower supply and demand subsystems (four papers), or financial accounting and resource allocation subsystems (two papers). Because the purpose of the conference was to provide descriptive information on the development and operation of the selected exemplary systems, participants were requested to conform as closely as possible to a four-part outline in their presentations: (1) the relationship of the subsystem of interest to the total MIS,(2) the objectives and structure of the subsystem, (3) who and what the subsystem is designed to serve (and who uses it), and (4) a description of the process of the subsystem. Selection of the States to be represented was made by a steering committee on the basis of a three-point criteria. The States were: Kansas, Minnesota, Oklahoma, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wyoming. Summaries of the 10 papers are included. (Author/AG)
