Chapter 1 provides background information, defines an open classroom, and discusses some assumptions about the ways children learn and the establishment of learning centers. Chapter 2 contains a discussion on the role of the teacher in the open classroom. Chapters 3-6 include guidelines for creating an open classroom in nursery school, in kindergarten, and at the primary and intermediate levels.
