Community Education: From Program to Process.
Minzey, Jack D.; LeTarte, Clyde E.
This book examines community education programs and case histories and presents ways to implement such programs. It has been written primarily for the educator or administrator but may also be of interest to students, parents, and other citizens interested in improving the community. The authors proceed from the basic premise that "program" is used to describe specific activities; and that "process" deals with involvement and action. A variety of programs are examined, and the details of the community process are described. The book is divided into six sections, each dealing with the practicalities to be observed for achieving success. Topics considered include the community education concept, initiating and developing community education, and staffing. Special emphasis is given to economic considerations. A final section examines the future of community education in America. (Author/DN)
