Debons, Anthony, Ed.
At the 1972 NATO Advanced Study Institute in Information Science the plenary sessions covered four main areas: the nature of information, information technology and its implications, the impact of information technology on social institutions, and professional issues. In addition, working groups were formed which addressed themselves to specific areas of concern: nature of information; information generation; information technology; computer netting and information utilities; user needs; organizations and institutions; cultural practices; information transfer; and theoretical, educational, and professional consideration. These proceedings contain all papers from the plenary and special sessions together with the working-group reports. In addition to the papers, there are: three introductory addresses; a summary; an epilogue which describes the study, actions, and recommendations of the institute; lists of contributors, technical advisors, and participants; and an index. Many of the papers have reference lists. (Author/LS)
