Webb, William A.; And Others
This report reflects the origin of student enrollments for the fall semester 1970 of the 43 accredited Kentucky colleges and universities. The enrollments are aggregated for each institution, by state and country, and Kentucky resident students by county of origin. For the fall of 1970, Kentucky state-supported and independent institutions of higher education enrolled 92,282 students. A few general findings relating to the overall enrollment characteristics of the state-supported sector of higher education indicate: (1) Kentucky high schools graduated 42,657 students in 1970, a decrease of 220 when compared with graduates in 1969. (2) The number of 1970 Kentucky high school graduates entering college in the fall of 1970 decreased 847 students. (3) Twenty-four colleges and universities experienced increases in their total enrollments and 19 enrolled a smaller number of students. (4) One out of every 43 Kentucky citizens attends an accredited Kentucky college or university. (5) The total enrollment of Kentucky colleges and universities increased 1.1 percent from the fall of 1969 to the fall of 1970. (6) the fall of 1970 first-time freshman enrollment of Kentucky colleges and universities decreased by 726 students from the same period in 1969. (7) The number of Kentuckians enrolling as first-time freshmen in 1970 decreased from the 1969 level. (Author/MJM)
