Children's Views of Themselves.
Gordon, Ira J.
This booklet discusses the many individual ways in which boys and girls develop their self-concepts, and points out that often a child's picture of himself may not be a true one; it may have come to him through adults who see him through blinders which may come from biases concerning certain ethnic or cultural groups and which prevent the adults from seeing him as he really is. Geared to educators, the document suggests ways in which teachers can help children to achieve greater self-respect as they learn about their own ethnic backgrounds and the part their people have played in building our country.
