Creative Drama (Elementary).
Roundey, William G.; Wheeler, Frederick E.
This resource book is based on the premise that dramatic play, or creative dramatics, should be an integral part of the language arts curriculum and that the child himself is a principal resource for material. The first chapter presents a philosophy of creative dramatics based on what the experience can provide to a child. The second chapter offers suggestions on how a teacher can best provide creative leadership. The third chapter deals with beginning activities: movement and rhythm, dramatic play, and story dramatization. The fourth chapter outlines creative drama activities for the preschool child and those on the primary, elementary, and intermediate levels. Finally, there is an extensive list of bibliographic and other resource materials. Many exercises and procedures are outlined and reinforced with quotations from various literary works. (RN)
