This instructional bulletin, second in a series of three publications designed to provide a sequential development of communication skills for educable mentally retarded pupils in elementary school, contains suggested learning objective and activities for implementation in language arts courses. Contents include: "Developing Fundamental Skills in Oral Language," which contains activities to improve listening, thinking, and speaking skills; "Developing Written Language Skills," which presents materials on vocabulary building, sentence development, punctuation, and paragraph organization; "Developing Handwriting Skills," which stresses the importance of handwriting and suggests learning activities to prepare pupils for handwriting; and "Developing Spelling Skills," which contains materials for teaching pupils to discriminate between sounds and to pronounce words correctly.
