Resources for the Teaching of English: 1974.
Judy, Stephen, Ed.
English Journal, v63 n1 Entire Issue January 1974
The purpose of this publication is to provide "access to tools," to help English teachers locate and select information and materials for multi-component writing and literature courses. It is divided into three main sections: The first is a catalog of "New Products and Publications for 1974," which includes brief descriptions of materials--from over 100 commercial publishers--that were released during the 1973-74 school year. The second section reflects the growing interest of English teachers in new sources of literature, particularly books by and about members of ethnic minorities. "Multi-Ethnic Literature in America" provides a source of materials, including bibliographies of the white ethnic experience, black adolescent literature, the Mexican-American experience, and American Indian literature. The third section offers "Ideas and Materials for Teaching English." Access lists on media aids, a list of 100 professional publications on English and education, a check list for personal reading or starting a departmental library, a description of the ERIC documents retrieval system, and a list of schools and organizations willing to exchange curriculum materials conclude the document.
