Your Choice Beyond a Degree.
Crowther, Roger, Ed.
A major aim of this book (part of the Careers Research and Advisory Centre Choice Series) is to assist college bound students in England who are about to choose their degree course of study, to understand the implications, especially those reflecting recent employment trends for graduates, of their choice in career terms. Section I contains two chapters that explore the importance of one's educational or working environment, related factors influencing course or job decisions, and sources of help in decision-making. Section II portrays what has happened to past graduates and the trends which may affect employment prospects in the future. Statistical returns on employment for broad groupings of graduate s (e.g., arts, social sciences) from 1963-70 are presented in table form. Individual subject areas are explored further by coverage (including tables) of the employment patterns of graduates in each of 45 particular degree subject groups. The last section includes further information and advice including an occupational categories index related to degree subjects, addresses pertaining to specific employment and vocational guidance, and a listing of the availability of useful books.
