The purpose of this pamphlet was to make the Idaho public aware of the needs and status of young children in their state. The information comes primarily from the findings of three major research surveys conducted by the Idaho Office of Child Development. The first survey was designed to identify existing services and resources for children, youth and families in Idaho. Two medical students from Idaho conducted the interviews for the second survey - a prenatal, perinatal, and postnatal study. The third study randomly sampled two percent of the families in Idaho with children under six. Some of the topics covered in this booklet include child nutrition, prenatal care, health care, emotional environment, social development, handicapped children and parents, and child care. (CS)
