Adult Consumer Education in the Community. Consumer Education Materials Project.
Baecher, Charlotte; And Others
Innovative ways to bring consumer information and education to diverse audiences in inner-city, rural, and suburban communities are described in this publication, one of six developed by the Educational Services Division of Consumers Union for the Consumer Education Materials Project (CEMP). The case studies in this volume describe actual consumer education programs, aimed primarily at low-income consumers, which are offered in a variety of nontraditional educational settings. A special section focuses on leadership training programs designed especially for paraprofessionals and community leaders. Possibilities are included for expanding and adapting the consumer education approach for each case study. A separate chapter suggests specific strategies for dealing with potential value conflicts. Related documents are SO 006 859-865. (Author/KMS)
