This presentation of suggested layouts and specifications has been prepared to be of service to school boards, architects, teachers, and administrators who are planning new schools or making renovations to existing structures. The recommendations cover many of the facilities that have been observed in schools throughout the province, and which have also been found to have considerable value. Shown are laboratories for chemistry, biology, physics, and geography. Three basic types of laboratories described are (1) the conventional, with a work table for every two students; (2) the perimeter, with areas for experimentation around two sides and one end, and with desks or tables in the center; and (3) the combination, with an area suitable for class discussion at one end and an area for experimentation at the other.
