This book describes the results of the Artists-in-Schools project sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Office of Education. Included are the background and goals for the project and a discussion of visual arts and music programs in Alabama; poetry and theatre in Minnesota; poetry in Wyoming; dance, architecture, and environmental planning in California; filmmaking in Nebraska; and the arts in education project in Rhode Island schools. In each case, artists in the various media are involved in teaching public school children the arts from the unique perspective which artists bring to the endeavor. The book is extensively illustrated with photographs of artists interacting with children. (CH)
