This course is designed to appeal to advanced classes whose teachers and students would like an alternative to the more formal, regular classroom situation and who have some interest in learning more about France and its people. The purpose is to present a cross-section of contemporary France through the profiles of personalities who have made important contributions in the arts, sciences, and humanities. Emphasis is on the development in the student of a greater awareness of and familiarity with 20th century France while, at the same time, continuing to improve language skills in all areas. Included in the course description booklet are a detailed listing of broad goals and performance objectives, an outline of course content, suggested procedures for the classroom, and sample evaluations.
