This course is designed to familiarize students with the various countries throughout the world in which French is the official language or is widely used. It includes such culturally distinct areas as Canada, Haiti, Africa, Polynesia, and Southeast Asia. Students choose an area which interests them for intensive study. Class discussion is conducted in French: extensive use is made of films, filmstrips, and tapes. Included in the course description booklet are a detailed listing of the broad goals and performance objectives, an outline of course content, suggested procedures for the classroom, and sample evaluations.
